POSITION SUMMARY:

The individual in this position is responsible for a wide variety of sales related functions including sales of all assigned product lines, demonstrations, installations, training, reports as required, the maintenance and safekeeping of demonstration instrumentation, computers, software, company vehicles and other company property, as well as, other related duties which may be assigned from time to time.

This position will be required to reach or exceed assigned sales goals within an assigned geographic territory

JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  1. Establish and maintain a good relationship with all accounts; (Daily)
  2. Perform demonstrations, installations and training. (Weekly)
  3. Timely submission of all required paperwork such as Call Reports, Expense Accounts, Forecasts, Lost Order Reports, Bid Opening Results, Competitive Marketing Information; (Weekly)
  4. Submission of Territorial Marketing Plan; (Quarterly)
  5. Performing adequate sales calls, demonstrations and other calls as necessary; (Daily)
  6. Achieving and maintaining a high level of technical proficiency in all areas related to the assigned product lines; (Daily)
  7. Maintenance of account records; (Daily)
  8. Conducting proper lead follow-up programs; (Daily)
  9. Maintenance and safekeeping of all assigned company property; (Daily)
  10. Must travel overnight as the position requires; (Weekly)
  11. Must travel by air and drive as required. (Daily)

SCOPE:

This position's primary focus is to achieve sales goals while maintaining excellent customer relations and reporting back to the Regional and Home Offices those factors, both good and bad, that affect the assigned territory.

PROBLEM SOLVING REQUIREMENTS:

The incumbent must be able to make effective and efficient decisions to solve problems based on customer needs and requirements. Incumbent is required to have obtained at least two product proficiency badges, through the internal corporate developmental program.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Degree in one of the Life Sciences;
  2. Three years successful sales experience with one or more of our equivalent product lines;
  3. Possess a valid driver's license.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

None

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The position requires frequent lifting (or by other means for movement) of instrumentation/parts. Physical demands may include frequent bending; stooping, squatting, standing, walking, sitting for long periods of time and pulling/pushing of parts can also be expected. Incumbent must be able to lift up to 20 pounds routinely throughout the day. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.

SAFETY/PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:

Position is required to maintain proper housekeeping and safety standards in particular to laboratory safety protocol. Proper use of personal protective equipment and safety devices as required by the Corporate Safety Document policies and procedures and/or customer dictated policy.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position is home based and will require daily travel to customer locations and/or the regional office. The position requires the incumbent to have the ability to work alone on projects, as well as, collaborating as part of team. Incumbent may work at several different work sites during the course of a business day in order to support the needs of Shimadzu customers. Extra hours may periodically be required, in order to fulfill the functions required by this position. The position requires proper handling of public inquires in a prompt and friendly manner
