Hamamatsu, one of the world's largest suppliers of advanced light detectors and detector systems for industrial, scientific, and commercial applications, has a full-time opening for a Senior Accountant, based out of our Bridgewater, NJ location. Our customer base is remarkably diverse; we serve Fortune 100 firms, top research labs, and innovative startups as well. Responsibilities include:
  • General accounting duties (journal entries, auditor requests, SOX compliance, and tax audits)
  • Preparation of financial reconciliations and supporting schedules (monthly and quarterly)
  • Sales graphs
  • Facilitate & complete monthly close procedures to ensure the integrity of financial stability and performance of the company including:
    • Inventory month end reconciliation - PTC inventory schedule
    • Booking of purchases-In-transit (A/P prepares)
    • Reviewing / closing production orders
    • Prepare A/R intercompany schedule
    • Preparation of exchange rate graphs and posting in CMS
  • Entering of payroll entries
  • Review, analyze, reconcile general ledger accounts
  • Review/reclass unearned revenue
  • Service contract revenue/service repair revenue
  • Monitoring inventory clearing account and adjustments
  • Intercompany exchange reconciliation
  • Adjust G/L commission expense account to actual commission paid and record
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Record bank service charges:
    • US dollar invoice payments
    • Yen invoice payments (monthly)
    • Payments to other subsidiaries
    • All foreign currency payments and/or payments to foreign countries
    • Health plan TPA - requests for funding received weekly
    • Bi-weekly payroll, monthly commissions - transfer net check amount to payroll account
    • Transfer 401K contributions - every payroll
  • Request balance confirmations as necessary
  • Forex trade confirmations
  • Review suspect check items and ACH vendors over the debit limit
  • Maintain master file of sales tax rates / codes for numerous states
  • Prepare sales tax returns for each state the company is registered and required (currently 24 states are filed)
  • Spot check A/P invoices for sales / use tax requirements
  • Maintain company's fixed assets
Required qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree and 5 years current hands-on experience in accounting and general ledger applications
  • Experience with ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics 365 preferred)
  • Intermediate level skills with Microsoft Office
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to consistently meet assigned deadlines
  • Ability to operate independently and intradepartmentally with minimal daily direction
Preferred qualifications:
  • Experience dealing with all levels of management and addressing interdepartmental matters
  • Familiar with payroll processing and compliance
  • Knowledge of foreign exchange transactions
  • Advanced level skills with Microsoft office
