Overview

The New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine, located on Long Island (Old Westbury, N.Y.), is requesting applications for an Assistant Professor position in the Department of Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine. More advanced career levels will be considered. We seek exceptionally creative, motivated and productive individuals who work at the interface between clinical and biomedical research. The candidate must have past experience with functional MRI and human participant research. In addition, it is critical that the candidate has done collaborative interdisciplinary research and can present a plan for how they plan to seek collaborations with other NYITCOM faculty. The potential areas of focus may include (but are not limited to) Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine, Parkinson's Disease, Ehler's Danlos Syndrome, Concussion/TBI, Neurodevelopmental Disorders, and Behavioral Health. This is a full-time faculty position with a research focus that represents a unique opportunity to join an energetic group of pioneering faculty researchers with substantial institutional support and access to a diverse student population eager to assist in research.

The research capabilities and profile of NYIT are growing rapidly. Some of the areas of focused growth are in the establishment of new facilities such a research MRI suite and acquisition of the cutting-edge microscopy equipment that are available through the NYIT Imaging Center. The recently established Center for Biomedical Innovation at NYITCOM allows access to advanced 3D printing technology and other prototyping and manufacturing capabilities. This job opportunity is unique because it represents a chance to get in at the ground-floor while also having unprecedented access to world-class research equipment and facilities.

Responsibilities

Conduct innovative independent research involving human participant MRI studies.

Participate in teaching of the first and second year medical students.

Mentor medical, graduate and undergraduate students.

Qualifications

PhD, MD, or DO degree (or equivalent)

Demonstrated ability to conduct innovative human research with MRI equipment

Demonstrated ability to form interdisciplinary research collaborations

Relevant postdoctoral and teaching experience

The NYIT College of Osteopathic Medicine (COM) has vibrant and rapidly growing research programs with strengths in neuroscience, cardiology, nephrology, cancer biology, and evolutionary and comparative anatomy, with state of the art equipment and facilities. New York Tech considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate experience/expertise, education/training, key skills, geographic location, internal peer equity as well as market, organizational considerations and/or applicable collective bargaining agreement when extending an offer.
