OVERVIEW:

The Formulation Development group creates new and novel sun and skin care formulas that meet defined performance and key market requirements. Formulation Development takes projects from the initial concept stage through testing and formula scale up activities. The Formulation Development group also plays a key role in making go/no-go decisions about continued development by producing key scientific feasibility information.

The Associate Scientist -Formulation Development will perform a key role in creating new formulations supporting Sun and Skin Care development and will be responsible for stability and laboratory performance testing, raw material selection, and formula specification creation.

This position is instrumental in the defining, development and testing the composition and physical attributes of new products. Through his/her development work, the Associate Scientist -Formulation Development is critical in helping to realize products that enable Beiersdorf to capitalize on market opportunities and unmet consumer needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Helping to optimize the product formulations by:
    1. Preparing topical formulations under the guidance of senior level scientists.
    2. Reformulate existing products for regulatory compliance, cost reduction, and stability issues.
    3. Documenting results of experiments in research notebooks and other appropriate media
    4. Assists in writing development reports
    5. Maintain accurate and thorough record keeping of laboratory procedures and results.
    6. Make batches of formulas for testing and sampling.
    7. Maintain laboratory equipment.
    8. Perform specification/stability testing, including measuring pH, viscosity, and other laboratory techniques.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's/Master's degree in Physical Science/Cosmetic/Life Science with 0-3 years of skin/sun care/OTC formulation experience
  • Must be passionate about skin/sun care / OTC formulation development and hands-on laboratory work and learning new skills
  • The ideal candidate is self-motivated, detail-oriented, and continuously seeks to enhance their knowledge in the field of skin/sun care technology.
