Position Summary

Arts & Science is seeking a dynamic Senior Laboratory Technician to join the College Core Curriculum department. This individual will serve as a technical resource in the lab on the use of specialized equipment. Provide technical assistance with laboratory experiments under guidance for a variety of undergraduate courses in the areas of physics, chemistry, biology, anthropology, and neuroscience. Prepare and set up laboratory experiments; test experiments; monitor laboratory operations and troubleshoot problems. Perform routine maintenance and basic repairs for a variety of scientific equipment.

Qualifications

Required Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent Some relevant coursework at the college level.

Preferred Education:
Bachelor's Degree in a scientific discipline.

Required Experience:
3+ years experience in a scientific laboratory.

Preferred Experience:
Experience in an academic setting.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Knowledge of and ability to operate standard laboratory equipment. Ability to prepare standard chemical solutions and maintain standard instrumentation. Excellent organizational, analytical, verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency with intermediate word processing, spreadsheet, and database software.

Additional Information

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the hourly rate for this position is USD $38.986. This rate is based on bargaining unit contracts. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
