Our team is looking for someone who will ensure compliance for non-income and income tax compliance and ensure best practices are followed in the areas of tax compliance. If policies can be improved, serve as a point person for implementing new procedures. Act as a liaison with outside business units in communicating tax needs and ensuring that those needs are met.

What you'll do:

  • At the direction of the Tax Director help to ensure compliance for substantially all non-income tax (largely sales tax but would include other tasks). This would include responding to inquiries from tax auditors and figuring out how to get them the information that they are requesting in a format that answers the questions they are asking. These other tasks would include: (a) information reporting, (b) certain other tax preparation (e.g. gross receipts taxes, tax withholding forms, annual reports,property taxes) (c) unclaimed property reporting and (d) employee tax issues. These tasks would be done at the direction of the Tax Director and Tax Manager. These tasks should be completed using intelligent automation solutions unless it is clearly demonstrated that a manual solution would be more efficient. This entails an understanding of the business, the procedures, the systems and the ever changing multiple tax rules.
  • At the direction of the Tax Director and Tax Manager assist in the preparation of the Company's state and local income tax compliance. This would include responding to inquiries from tax auditors and figuring out how to get them the information that they are requesting in a format that answers the questions they are asking. This entails an understanding of the business, the procedures, the systems and the ever changing multiple tax laws.
  • At the direction of the Tax Director and Tax Manager help ensure that best practices are followed in the areas of income and non-income tax compliance and planning for the Company. If procedures can be improved/automated serve as a point person for implementing new procedures.
  • Provide financial, analytical and operational support for the Tax Department. Work with minimal supervision from both Tax Directors, and Tax Manager in gathering data necessary to (a) prepare income tax provisions, (b) prepare income tax returns and (c) responding to various tax notices and examinations.

What you'll bring:

  • Two to three years tax experience.
  • Advanced excel user able to use complex excel formulas such as sumif, sumifs, vlookups, hlookups, pivot tables and etc.
  • Knowledge of tax compliance systems.
  • Experience with SAP and other enterprise finance systems is a plus.
  • Publishing industry experience is a plus.

This role will have an annual salary of $85,000 - $90,000
