Department purpose and structure
The HR team at A&O Shearman provides a first-class service to the business, offering strategic HR business advice at the business partner level and quality support services in the full range of HR functions through specialist teams such as, learning & development, resourcing, reward, employee relations advice, diversity and inclusion, payroll, systems and HR administration.

Role purpose
Under the supervision of the Manager, Staff Recruitment, the Coordinator will be tasked with managing day-to-day Recruitment tasks related to all aspects of support staff recruitment efforts for the U.S. offices. This role can sit in New York, Washington, DC, Dallas, San Francisco or Silicon Valley.

Role and responsibilities
Recruitment
  • Lead external recruitment agency calls
  • Assist in producing initial searches for and direct sourcing of business teams candidates for assigned searches
  • Screen resumes and select candidates for consideration
  • Conduct screening interviews with candidates
  • Oversee scheduling and calendaring, and ensure data is updated in relevant spreadsheets and recruitment systems for the staff recruitment team
  • Ensure interviews are progressing at an appropriate pace
  • Manage direct communications with candidates and external agencies throughout the interview cycle
  • Provide regular business teams recruitment updates to members of senior staff and management
  • Review interview feedback and identify and convey key themes
  • Extend candidate verbal offers
  • Draft and prepare business cases for the Resource Planning Committee (RPC)
On-boarding & Induction
  • Provide guidance to the Recruitment Administration team in various aspects of their role as needed
  • Finalize induction and onboarding plan drafted by Recruitment Administration team
  • Liaise with new joiners during their onboarding to actively support their integration
General Administration and Other
  • Work with third party vendors which includes the firm's background check provider, external recruitment agencies, etc.
  • Draft bespoke documents from templates
  • Track applicant data for internal metrics related but not limited to diversity & inclusion for OFCCP compliance
  • Assist with special projects
  • Other responsibilities as directed
Team
This individual will report directly to the Manager, Staff Recruitment and will work closely with other members of the Staff Recruitment and U.S. HR team.

Key requirements
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum of 2 years recruitment experience in law firm or comparable complex professional services organization
  • Interest in the US legal market and recruitment industry desirable
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and Adobe
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with others
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve and think strategically
  • Exceptional organizational skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work overtime as necessary
  • Strong judgment and ability to respect, protect, and maintain highly confidential information
For individuals assigned to or hired for this opportunity in New York, the estimated annualized base salary range for this position is $75,000 - $90,000. The actual base salary offered will depend on the overall qualifications of the individual applicant for the position and other job-related factors permitted by law.
