Requirements We are currently seeking a Technology Manager The successful candidate will represent the interests of the operating division with respect to business process work-flows and the associated technology utilized to generate and deliver work-product. Responsibilities will include the identification, evaluation and initial deployment/rollout of process changes and the associated technology to improve the division and by extension the overall firm’s financial performance, efficiency and quality so that STV can BE THE BEST! The TM combines in-depth knowledge of the design and construction business, an understanding of the principles of project management and collaborative work flow processes with an understanding and knowledge of all contemporary technology platforms which are or could be employed to address STV’s core purpose to SERVE OUR CLIENTS BETTER THAN ANY OTHER FIRM. The TM for the division will work collaboratively with all other divisional TM counterparts such that the team of TM's represent all functions, divisions and departments within STV Group. The TM is responsible for leading the evaluation, development and implementation of improved internal operating processes for the evaluation and implementation of technology based business processes and products into the division. Although the TM will work collaboratively with the CIO, the TM is part of the division and represents the business interests of the division Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must have a technical background and experience in a design and construction environment. A degree in architecture or engineering is preferred, although other technical backgrounds may be considered if combined with the desired experience and skills. In addition, the individual shall have experience in the evaluation and use of contemporary technology solutions to include knowledge of all major operating systems in general use today, both in desk-top and mobile platforms, knowledge of data network topologies and protocols. The individual should understand work-flows, business processes and the cultural dynamics which contribute to successful change management within a professional services environment. Finally, the individual should understand the business and economics of a firm such as STV sufficiently to prepare cost-justified business cases and business plans for new technology based initiatives. The individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Essential Duties: 1. Represent the division on the STV technology council. The Technology Council is STV’s technology user’s board whose purpose is to involve appropriate segments of the firm in the process of planning and implementing technology throughout STV. The council’s charter has been to provide a forum for all operating divisions and groups with STV to discuss technology issues including: a. New technology b. Issues with existing technology c. Plans for process improvements through technology d. Potential technology applications e. Integration of technology across the company The TM s duties will require working with the T-Council to implement the business justified technology initiatives which he develops with the divisions. It is anticipated that the T-Council will become a group who work together day to day in a collaborative manner to progress the technology initiatives which support the work flows and processes of the firm. 2. Works within the Operating Division to identify and evaluate process driven technology changes in the methods of design and construction in that division’s area of expertise. Identifies opportunities for process improvements, develops the cost/benefit case in support of such improvements in order to incorporate the new process and its associated technology into STV. The TM will also identify technology champions within the division who will support the TM in the evaluation and analysis of potential technology driven process improvements. 3. Teams with counterparts representing all other STV divisions and departments to analyze and evaluate existing processes associated and their associated technology. Identifies and prioritizes the best opportunities for improvement of processes and any associated technology. Presents business case to and obtain commitment from STV Divisional management for implementation of improvements. 4. Works with CIO to identify opportunities within currently deployed technology infrastructure for process improvement 5. The business case for each process improvement and its associated technology implementation shall identify the hardware, technology infrastructure, software, training, staff resources and costs required for process improvement implementation. 6. Establishes the schedule and implementation plan for each process and associated technology implementation. Works with STV management and staff to execute the process improvement plans in accordance with the established schedule. 7. Documents process improvements in accordance with STV’s quality program. 8. Works with the Information Technology group to plan, prepare for and implement the IT support required for process and technology improvements. 9. Plans and oversees the training required for all staff in order to incorporate new work flows and associated technology. 10. Participates in business development activities as requested in order to highlight STV’s technology commitment to potential and current clients. 11. Participates in select industry organizations in a means of identifying and evaluating potential technology based solutions for STV. Supervisory Responsibilities: No direct reports, however, TM will assemble and work with ad hoc, short term and long term teams of STV employees on various initiatives. May be called upon to assist in employee evaluations for team members involved in long term projects. Education and/or Experience: Requires a 4-year degree in Engineering or appropriate other discipline and 10+ years experience in design or construction management. Experience: 5+ years of relevant industry experience in technical or project management operations. Experience in the strategic planning process, collaborative processes and products, and work communicating and implementing technology based initiatives with senior managers is preferred. Special Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills; superior presentation and negotiating skills. Specialized Knowledge: Knowledge and experience with of advanced design and construction tools, all major operating system platforms and network topologies is desirable.
